Career Profile

Dr. Sunday Nathaniel Obasi is a distinguished scholar in Crop and Soil Sciences, currently serving as a Senior Lecturer at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Kaduna Campus. He holds a B.Sc. (2005), M.Sc. (2010), and Ph.D. (2015) in Soil Survey and Land Use Planning from the Federal University of Technology Owerri. Since joining academia in 2013, Dr. Obasi has advanced to Senior Lecturer in 2023, excelling in teaching, research, and community engagement.

His research focuses on soil characterization, classification, and land suitability evaluation, with notable studies on Southeastern and Northwestern Nigerian soils. Dr. Obasi has led and participated in research projects funded by TetFund and NOUN, resulting in numerous publications in reputable journals.

In addition to academic duties, he has held various administrative roles, including Senate Member, Acting Head of Department, and Chairman of the Farm Committee at NOUN. He actively contributes to professional societies such as the Soil Science Society of Nigeria (SSSN), Agricultural Society of Nigeria (ASN), and the Nigerian Association of Artificial Intelligence Practitioners (NAAIP).
